The REAL United States of America

This article is simply perfect. Mike Thompson, former chair of the Florida Conservative Union, penned this essay shortly after Dubya's reelection. In it he claims that the Red states are not "respected or...tolerated" by the Blue states. I fail to understand this unexplained claim. Anyway, he seems to feel that the Blue states are so disrespectful that the two factions cannot coexist and that there needs to be a constitutional amendment passed by the "Mostly Mainstream 38", the number needed to pass a constitutional amendment, expelling the "Fringe 12", comprising of California, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maryland, and Delaware. From the essay: "Only the remaining 38 states would retain the name, 'United States of America.' The 12 expelled mobs could call themselves the 'Dirty Dozen,' or individually keep their identity and go their separate ways, probably straight to Hell. " If Mr. Thompson were to revise this essay for these new times, I think he may want to exclude those nasty liberals over in Iowa, too. His description of the real America? From the essay: "...predominantly white; devoutly Christian (mostly Protestant); openly, vigorously heterosexual; an open land of single-family homes and ranches; economically sound (except for a few farms), but not drunk with cyberworld business development, and mainly English-speaking, with a predilection for respectfully uttering 'yes, ma'am' and 'yes, sir.'" One thing that strikes me in particular from that excerpt is "predominantly white". Does this suggest that the, in his words, "ethnically diverse," Blue states are inferior at least in part due to their ethnic diversity? If you want an example of the arrogant intolerance of the far-right, this sums it up right here. This moron doesn't envision a "free" America as he claims in the essay. No, he envisions an America in which the Constitution is essentially replaced by the Bible. He envisions an America in which homosexuality, abortion, and adultery are punishable by death. He envisions an America in which conservative Protestant religions would rule and Catholics would be tolerated. You know, this guy I would assume is no fan of Al-Qaeda, but this certainly ironic. After all, they seem to have similar goals, just with a different book, a different religion. If he were to have looked four years into the future at the time of writing this essay, he'd be furious to see the ethnicity and home state of the winner of the 2008 Presidential Election. If he'd had his way, there'd be no need for his people to be crying bloody murder without giving reason over our President's birth certificate; he wouldn't be a United States citizen to begin with given his Illinois residency. I say we carry out this brilliant plan. When the whole world condemns it and supports the twelve expelled states, let's see how their "purified" population holds up alone. Without imports or exports. Let's see what happens. My guess is that they'd only survive with the help of God. The world may be on the side of tolerance, but God is certainly over there with them supporting their intolerance. Good luck surviving on Midwest grain, Southern tobacco, and manna. Yeah, that's what I thought.
